Shooting in head, gravely injuring groom during attempted robbery ruins Missouri couple's wedding.

A Missouri groom was shot in the head by armed robbers at his backyard wedding reception.

Manuel and Dulce Gonzalez had been together for almost a decade and had two young children when they married on Friday in their St. Louis garden for approximately 50 of their closest friends and family, Fox 2 Now reported Monday.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a Dutchtown home for a shooting before 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Police say an armed man stood behind the groom with a revolver pointing at him as one of the men went through guests' pockets. Manuel was hit in the head by a bullet, authorities added.

Both suspects ran. They took nothing from victims. "They took nothing, yet they took everything from us," bride sister Yaribeth Pena told FOX 2 Now.

Manuel is in critical condition after being hospitalised.  "We need prayers that he will come through this," the family wrote on their GoFundMe page.

On Sunday, the family told FOX 2 police detectives had not collected all the evidence or interviewed all the witnesses.

"My sister's father and husband are good. Pena stated he works hard. "He’s just an all-around good person that — I don’t know — he didn’t deserve this." No one has been arrested.
